Gone are the days when it seemed impossible to attend a kpop concert in Singapore. Besides the rare few like Rain and Shinhwa, nobody nobody ever came. I had to write to concert/event companies to try and persuade them to bring kpop artistes like TVXQ and Super Junior in which they would then reply, oh the market is not big enough, not enough fans etc. But look how wrong they are, kpop is seriously the biggest thing to earn money that is now. Concert prices are incredibly insane, idols sell out their concerts and have to do 2 day shows. Everyone is looking to exploit the overseas market!
Look at the recent example,

$500 for a ROOKIE group even to stalk them during their entire Singapore journey is really quite ridiculous.

I'm watching this and what I really like is not only seeing 2ne1 perform, but they can hold the interview in English. Usually I cringe and go all nooooo wheneve translators are needed and awkward moments are a common occurence but CL takes the stage pretty well with short and direct answers to the interview! :)
However, you gotta catch the rest of the best new bands too!
2NE1's Go away. It is a very addictive and catchy song. :)
To Anyone, 2NE1's first full length album is worth a listen especially songs like 사랑은 아야야 and Kiss. But certain songs can get a little too techno/rappy for me such as 날 따라 해봐요 and Slow. But I like that past songs have been remixed such as favourite I Don't Care and Park Bom's Solo You and I have been included in this album.
This is also my favourite track of BoA's latest album soon to be repackaged into Copy&Paste.
Awesome! Other tracks of the album which I also like are Stand By and Let Me. Generally I prefer BoA ballads compared to her dance tracks. :) Fierce BoA is thumbs up!
Big Bang's Taeyang will come back solo after being out of the scene for a year and a half.
Taeyang's new single "Where U At" will be released on October 15. Taeyang, who has been influential with his songs "Only Look At Me" and "Prayer" on his first solo mini album HOT, will be considered more than just a lead singer of a popular idol group and will instead prove himself to be a recognized musician.
Taeyang was #1 on various music and broadcast charts and was even predicted to win the end of the year music award by music critics. He also had his first solo concert this year, which was limited to adults and was tailored to older generations.
The "Where U At" music video which will be released on the 15th features famous foreign dancers who praised Taeyang, who was "better than a lot of dancers that they had ever seen. It is uncanny that someone who sings as well as he does can also dance incredibly well."
"Where U At" was produced and composed by Teddy, who seems to be producing hits everywhere with "Only Look At Me," "Prayer," "Lollipop", and 2NE1's "Fire" and "I Don't Care." Their collaboration with this single has high expectations.
"Where U At"'s lyrics are about a man imagining where his soulmate is and why they haven't met yet, which is even more heartfelt considering how similar it is to 22-year-old Taeyang's life story of how he has never had a girlfriend.
Taeyang's solo comeback will open up competition between Big Bang members as G-Dragon is currently flooding the charts with his solo promotions.
YG Entertainment said "'Where U At" will be released just to make Taeyang's first full-length album known, so there will be no accompanying promotions or TV appearances."
Taeyang will then release his second, actual title track "Wedding Dress" in early November. Then, he will start his actual promotions mid-November until the end of the year.
"Wedding Dress" will be somewhat revealed during the latter half of the "Where U At" music video.
Singer and actress Jang Nara said Wednesday that she will never again appear in a movie her dad makes.
Jang made the remark during a press conference for her new film "Sky and Sea" co-produced by Christmas Entertainment and JNdivertisseme, a production company owned by her father.
"My dad was supposed to invest just a little but he ended up making a full-scale investment as the film started facing difficulties," Jang said. "He told me this when I was half-way into shooting the movie and I couldn't sleep that night."
She said her dad kept sending her to China from then on early this year to shoot several commercials and hold concerts but that he ended up investing all the money she made into the film.
"I thank and love him dearly but I might die if he makes another movie," Jang added jokingly of her dad who has also been managing her career since her debut.
Jang has had a successful singing and acting career in Korea and China since her debut in 2001.
"Sky", about the friendship between three stars of the movie also including singer and actress Juni and actor Yu A-in, is set for release on October 29. Jang shed about seven kilograms from her usual 45 kilograms to play the role of a girl with Savant Syndrome in the film.

2NE1 First Independent Concert
End of year concert hall coronations and discussion of details… new album releases next month,Girl group 2NE1 will hold a large-scale concert at the end of the year.
The 2NE1 concert is very significant in various ways. The only female groups that have held their own concerts is Finkl(1998,1999) and S.E.S(2000), Wonder Girls(2008), these three groups only. And for a new group whose debut hasn’t even passed a year to hold a solo concert at such a huge performance hall is impossible without a number of hit songs and a huge popularity.
There have been a lot of female idol groups out, and especially this year it has expanded so much to the point where it was called a ‘fountain of girl groups.’ But the reason they were not able to hold concerts is because compared to the male groups, there wasn’t as many enthusiastic participation from fans. So for concert management companies, it wasn’t easy to invest in female group concerts.
But 2NE1 has had an uncommonly great deal of attention since before their debut, and this put them at a different position from all the other girl groups. Even before 2NE1’s debut, they had gone up the music charts with the LG Cyon commercial theme song ‘Lollipop’ in March. In May, they debuted with ‘Fire’ and gained so much popularity that they won first place in a mainstream music program in just one month.
In July after the release of their mini-album, ‘I Don’t Care,’ as well as ‘In the Club’ ‘Let’s Go Party’ ‘Pretty Boy’ and etc. has gained equal popularity and went up in high ranks in the music charts. They not only just catch the eye of the viewer with their dance or fashion, or feminine charm, but they also win with their music and made a huge progression.
After they ended their mini-album activities in mid-September, 2NE1 is planning on releasing another album around November, so they will probably have enough hit songs to fill up the 2 hour performance of the concert. YG Entertainment says, “ 2NE1 has showed a will for a concert since their debut, and since their first mini-album has had an amount of success, reason to agree for a concert was sufficient.”

After previously declining offers in the past, Mario Maurer has finally accepted a lakorn role in “Korb Fah Tawun Diew” by first time producer “A” Supachai. This lakorn is a collaboration project between Thailand and Korea by channel 9.
“I’ve made a decision that I will probably accept my first role in a lakorn. I can’t tell you much about my character yet, I want to keep it as a secret first, so people would be surprised, but he’s kind of like a kid with a very hurtful past so it’s quite difficult to play. Mario has also signed up for a joint Thai-Korean soap opera, Tai Fa Tawan Deo (ใต้ฟ้าตะวันเดียว), his first foray into television, he told the media yesterday.
The soap opera will be shot in Korea with a mixed Thai/Korean cast, including four Korean actors: Ryan, formerly of the band PARAN, two members from the band You Kiss, and an actor from the Korean TV series Boys over Flowers (F4).

Super Junior most anticipated for Dream Concert
'Festival of Stars' Dream Concert is 4 days away
On October 10, 6:30 PM at Seoul District Mapo Sangamdong Seoul World Cup Stadium regarding the opening of 2009 Dream Concert (,) on and after September 28 (,) on October 6 as a result of survey question in 9 days that was coordinated from Caffebene*, Super Junior's perfomance stage at Dream Concert will be the best stage.
Overall, from participation of 42,190 people in the survey question, Super Junior got 45% approval rating with 19,117 people's supports, landslidely rating in the first place. "You’re Beautiful”, Lee Hongki Transforms Into Jessica
FT Island’s Lee Hongki transformed himself into SNSD’s Jessica.
Starting its first airing on 7th October, SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful” includes parody music videos and one of which, requires Lee Hongki to transform into SNSD.
The main characters of “You’re Beautiful” challenged themselves in parodies of mega hits like Seo Taiji & Boys’ “I Know“, Roo’ra’s “Wingless Angel“, HOT’s “Candy“, DJ.DOC’s “Run To You“, Crying Nut’s “Let’s Ride A Horse“, Fin.K.L’s “Forever Love” and SNSD’s “Tell Me Your Wish“.
Lee Hongki, who transformed into SNSD’s Jessica, even wore skinny pants and 7cm-tall high heels for the filming. He revealed that, “Few days before the filming, I went to check out the song and the videos and made careful observation of their performance.”
Actually, during the filming of “Tell Me Your Wish“, he had a video call with Tiffany. “Lee Hongki and Jang Geunsuk, who did Jessica and Yoona’s parts respectively, look very pretty and I’m really shocked. I will watch the drama well when it starts,” Tiffany gave her support.
The parody music video will be shown at the end of the episodes as an epilogue before the preview of the next episode. The content will be different every time, giving surprise to the viewers.

FT Island will be holding a nationwide concert tour titled “Men’s Stories“.
FT Island is starting their concert tour in Seoul, at Jangchung Gymnasium, on 14th (6pm) and 15th (3pm) November. At the concert, FT Island will be telling their “Men’s Stories“, using strong visuals and sound. There is going to be much interaction with the fans instead of just a normal performance.

Gong MinJi has received much shock to find out that her grandmother’s health has deteriorated much with 2 stroke attack and a car accident. And with that, she was seen very quiet and looking troubled before the girls’ performance on Asia Song Festival on 19th September. YG Entertainment said, “When MinJi heard the news about her grandmother’s health, she had a shock. The other 2NE1 members are also comforting her.” Friends and families have revealed that they worried that Gong MinJi will feel guilty of not being able to see her grandmother as often with her singing activities. A family friend said, “Madam Gong OkJin have loved to see Gong MinJi perform on stage more than anyone else from before MinJi debuted. With that this becomes more of a burden to MinJi. There are plans for MinJi to go visit her grandmother and take care of her after her minialbum activities end. The Brown Eyed Girls are leaving their mark not only on the music industry, but also in the hearts of male celebrities. BEG member Narsha revealed on “Flower Boy Po Cha” that she had been approached and asked out by no less than FIVE male celebrities.
She stated that she had a boyfriend up until her debut, but was dumped by him soon after. As word got around that she was back on the market, she became the object of many male celebrities’ affection. Interestingly enough, Narsha stated that although many had approached her, she was not interested in a single one- and therefore declined to date them. FT Island feels burdened to be labeled as “idols”.
The band revealed how they feel about being labeled as “idols” on MBC “Music Travel LaLaLa” that was aired earlier on 2nd September.
“Because of this title, we have to work even harder,” FT Island voiced their concerns, “People will have preconceptions about us.” They also mentioned that, “There’s no time to rest and we’re also short of time.”
MC Kim Changwan advised the members, “Just be shaggy and go on schedules in your training clothes will do.” Lee Hongki laughed, “I do that actually.”
FT Island also mentioned that, “As we get older in future, we want to be called musicians.”

Epik High's Tablo and his girlfriend, Kang Hye Jung, announced today that they are going to get married this coming October! And to add a little spice to this hot news, they are expecting a baby as well!
Tablo expressed in a statement through his company, "It was love at first sight for me. Now we are planning to get married in the fall. We are expecting a baby in the middle of next year...It was generally really tough for me this year, but Hye Jung was with me at all times and encouraged me. On the 1st epsidoe of KBS drama channel "Human network - Super Junior's miracle" which will be aired at 8.00PM on September 5th, Super Junior's members will have to take a quiz called "Idol of general knowledge - Umbrella quiz" to test their quality to be the MCs. The member who is ranked #1 will be receive "Idol of general knowledge" award and the one who is ranked at last will be called "bomb-shell idol".
"Umbrella quiz" contains questions about present events, history and common knowledge. On that day, Kangin who even got the difficult question right was ranked #1 and honored as "Idol of general knowledge", after that he said to the other members "You guys dont read newspaper, do you ? I'm a person like that ! (a person who read newspaper)". On the other side, Leeteuk who couldnt even get a answer right until the end was called "bomb-shell idol" and got a banter "That person is our leader" from the other members.
Also, when MC Park Kyunglim and singer Lee Sooyoung asked Leeteuk "Who is your life's mentor/adviser ?", he had said without hesitance that person is Lee Sooman. 4Minute takes GDragon off the competition at #1 on illegal music download chart

Girlgroup 4Minute breaks the ‘GDragon syndrome’ by take him off the #1 on illegal music download chart for the 1st week of September.
MusicSave (musicsave.co.kr), in charge of monitoring illegal music sites, revealed that 4Minute’s ‘Muzik’ has take up about 20.6% of illegal music file downloads for the week.
This is the 2nd time that 4Minute is #1 on illegal music download chart after coming back with their 1st minialbum. There was some setbacks for the group with their 1st minialbum – first the album was leaked out on 28th August before the official release date, and then the song ‘Won’t Give You’ was ruled inappropriate for broadcast. But the album is doing very well as a whole, moving up fast on various music charts.
And GDragon has ruled the chart for illegal music download for 2 weeks with his solo debut song ‘Heartbreaker’.
Besides that, group Jewelry is also doing up strong on the chart with the song ‘Strong Girl’ off their 6th comeback album ‘Sophiscated’ released 1 year snd 6 months after their previous album. They are also making a hit with their ‘ Salrang Salrang dance’.

Popular group 2PM's Park Jaebum posted negative comments on Myspace about Korea and Koreans.
In 2005, where Jaebum was still a trainee of JYPE, he wrote:"Korea is gay" and "I don't like Koreans" and "I want to go back to the US"
He also wrote: "Koreans aren't normal, they think that my low-level rapping is great, they're really stupid". He debuted in 2007, but apparently he didn't like his clothes style and wrote: "This is like my gay version"
He also cursed badly cursed Rain, who ended his contract with JYP.

2PM Park Jaebum issues public apology ‘I’m really sorry and embarrassed’
2PM’s Park Jaebum has made an official apology over the comments made about Korea. Jaebum posted on American social networking site in 2005 & 2007 saying ‘I want to go back to America’ ‘I hate Korea’, after such insulting comments have been found, he has received a lot of criticism.
Park Jaebum has confessed to posting such things at 12:13PM and posted at his fancafe with the title ‘Park Jaebum’s apology’, trying to express this apology through the post.
Jaebum said “I would like to apologize for the things I posted on myspace a few years ago. Sorry’ ‘and ‘I returned to Korea in Jan 05 when I was a high school student. Being born and bred in America, I had hardly any understanding of Korea, and when I first came to Korea, I couldn’t speak the language, couldn’t adapt to the food, and didn’t know and didn’t understand Korean culture’ ‘My family was all in America and when I came to Korea it seemed like everyone was being cold to me. I had no idea when I would debut and I was really lonely. It was a really difficult and lonely period for me due to various reasons. I missed home, felt like giving up and wanted to go back to my family in America.”explaining the reasons behind his posts.
Jaebum has issued a sincere apology saying ‘I posted such things because I really hated how I was living then and got really worked up. I was really young then and didn’t express myself well’ ‘I was young, didn’t have enough sense and because it was a difficult period, and I made these mistakes due to the situations I was facing at that point in time. I posted those words 4 years ago and I have completely changed since then. I will try not to make such mistakes in future’.

Jiyeon, the girl nicknamed the '2nd Kim Taehee' speaks up about how the netizens' comments have caused a deep wound within her.

Idol group T-ara's member Hyomin (21, real name Park Sunyoung) has gotten into a plastic surgery controversy due to some pictures. Some netizens took screen shots of roles Hyomin played in the past and said, "Her face is so different from now," sparking a controversy.
It started when a title was posted on various portal sites called "T-ara's Hyomin's pre-plastic surgery look." It was posted with a picture from 2005 KBS's Drama Sassy Girl Chunhyang. One Japanese movie reporter has complained about Lee ByungHun playing a Japanese character in the upcoming movie G.I. Joe. Lee ByungHun plays Storm Shadow in the movie, and in the reporter's article, he stated that G.I. Joe was "a very stupid movie that showed Lee ByungHun as a perfect Japanese when he's not."

Cable channel Y-STAR’s ‘Curiosity’ aired a segment titled ‘Fortune-Telling Using Faces! SNSD’s Episode.’ The producers of the show first showed a fortune-teller the faces of SNSD members. They then visited the group at a CF filming site and got their opinions on the fortunes.
According to the fortune-teller, “Yoona’s eyes are shaped like those of a bird. Her will is strong and she is extremely competitive. She has a habit of finishing things she starts, and it seems like she would be a good disciplinarian. Jessica’s high nose ridge means that she has the most popularity among guys. This is because she has a high nose ridge and it looks like the tip of her nose protects the rest of her nose.”
The fortune-teller also said, “Maknae [the youngest] Seohyun’s ‘charming fat’ under her eyes stand out. ‘Charming fat’ under the eyes is the symbol of sexiness. SNSD, Gets in a Car Accident While Returning Home From Broadcast
Girl Group SNSD got in a car accident on the 4th at night while driving home from appearing on MBC FM4U 'Dreamy Radio YooGun'.
According to SM Entertainment, SNSD members after finishing broadcast in Yeouido this night were heading to their dorm in Gangnam in two separate cars and were charged by a car that was driving along with them on the Olympic rode and got in a crash.
SM said, "Fortunately, the cars only made contact with each other, so it didn't turn out to be a big accident" and added, "None of the members were hurt, but Hyoyeon was shocked by the accident due to the crash that happened while she was seated in the front, so she is being checked up in the hospital because we're worried about the aftermath of the accident."
SNSD plans to continue their regular schedule on August 5th, despite the car accident that occurred on the previous day. Fortunately, SNSD is scheduled to attend only two afternoon events, which are MBC 'Chin Chin Radio' hosted by TaeYeon and KBS 'Super Junior Kiss The Radio.' SM Entertainment stated, "The physical condition of the members will be carefully examined to ensure their safety."
The car accident occurred on the night of August 4th while driving home from their appearance on MBC FM4U 'Dreamy Radio YooGun'.
According to SM Entertainment, the accident occurred while the members were driving home in two separate vehicles when another car attempted to pass the two on the Olympic road. All SM Artists Are Under The Same Contract
In relation to 3 TVXQ members, Junsu, Jaejoong, and Yoochun who filed injunction application to suspend exclusive clause contract, Seoul Court has been collecting all contracts of other singers under SM Entertainment and miraculously, their contract with the agency is completely similar with TVXQ.
SM artists’ contract mostly last for a long period (averagely 10 years), unfair income distribution (50,000,000 won is paid only if the album sold more than 500,000 copies), and penalty termination (3 times of initial investment and 2 times of loss).Many SM idol stars have been in the same shoes as TVXQ for exclusive contract clause.
District Court (first level court) and High Court (second level court) has come to the same conclusion, that the agreement in contract is unfair thus labeled it as “invalid”. However, Supreme Court’s (third level) adjudication has not yet to come. The artist can be said to win the case only if the Supreme Court has agreed to the two court’s adjudication, else it’s not proceed.
CF model Yoo Minho (25) in 2006 had a discord against SM related to exclusive contract as well. Therefore TVXQ’s case in not the first case of an artist having court battle against SM. Even the Yoo Minho’s contract is likely similar with TVXQ contract, which makes it more cliche. Minho’s starting contract period was also close as TVXQ’s, January 3, 2003 (TVXQ is June 30, 2003).
Yoo Minho – SM court battle lasted for 1 year and 6 months in Yoo Minho’s winning with some adjustment clauses, yet she dropped from SM, while the agency influenced the PD of her show to shut down the TV show since she’s no longer worked for SM regardless the good ratings it got.
SM seems to use a standard form in each of its contract therefore it appears that other singers under SM such as Super Junior and SNSD have signed the same contract as TVXQ.
In addition, TVXQ members requested to SEJONG lawfirm–3 members legal representative–through an e-mail on August 5th “Until the trial date is confirmed, please do not reveal anything about our stand, to avoid more court motions.”

Right after the Brown Eyed Girls performance on Music Bank, the girls were headed to another scheduled event near the Han River at around 8pm, when they slightly collided with the car in front of them. The car in front of them stalled because of a flat tire and the vehicle in which the Brown Eyed Girls were in slightly collided with the car in front. The members didn't have any injuries of note, but some were reportedly a bit shocked about the whole ordeal. They changed vehicles and continued onto their next schedule.

Group Eight has bought the rights to yet another manga to reproduce as a drama. Previously, they bought the rights to hit dramas 'Goong' and 'Boys over Flowers', but this time it's popular Japanese manga 'Mischievous Kiss'. This manga has already been remade as the Taiwanese drama 'It Started With a Kiss'.
A representative from Group Eight announced "We are preparing Mischievous Kiss as our next project. A team is already beginning preparations for the drama. We are planning on it being aired sometime next summer. Although the original manga does not have an ending, the scriptwriter does have a plot in mind. We could use the ending for 'It Started With a Kiss' or write an entirely new ending."
'Mischievous Kiss' is about a genius boy with a 200 IQ who is very cold and distant and a girl who is very clumsy, but has a crush on this boy. As they interact, the girl changes the boy into someone who is much more human. Your typical Japanese shojo manga, but it's what Koreans like.
I really love the taiwan version, so much that during breaks me and my friends would skip going down to the canteen an sigh over the drama and listen to the soundtrack. The show was so sweet and romantic! I cant wait for the korean version!
Gone are the days when it seemed impossible to attend a kpop concert in Singapore. Besides the rare few like Rain and Shinhwa, nobody nobody ever came. I had to write to concert/event companies to try and persuade them to bring kpop artistes like TVXQ and Super Junior in which they would then reply, oh the market is not big enough, not enough fans etc. But look how wrong they are, kpop is seriously the biggest thing to earn money that is now. Concert prices are incredibly insane, idols sell out their concerts and have to do 2 day shows. Everyone is looking to exploit the overseas market!

I'm watching this and what I really like is not only seeing 2ne1 perform, but they can hold the interview in English. Usually I cringe and go all nooooo wheneve translators are needed and awkward moments are a common occurence but CL takes the stage pretty well with short and direct answers to the interview! :)

To Anyone, 2NE1's first full length album is worth a listen especially songs like 사랑은 아야야 and Kiss. But certain songs can get a little too techno/rappy for me such as 날 따라 해봐요 and Slow. But I like that past songs have been remixed such as favourite I Don't Care and Park Bom's Solo You and I have been included in this album.
This is also my favourite track of BoA's latest album soon to be repackaged into Copy&Paste.
Awesome! Other tracks of the album which I also like are Stand By and Let Me. Generally I prefer BoA ballads compared to her dance tracks. :) Fierce BoA is thumbs up!
Big Bang's Taeyang will come back solo after being out of the scene for a year and a half.
Taeyang's new single "Where U At" will be released on October 15. Taeyang, who has been influential with his songs "Only Look At Me" and "Prayer" on his first solo mini album HOT, will be considered more than just a lead singer of a popular idol group and will instead prove himself to be a recognized musician.
Taeyang was #1 on various music and broadcast charts and was even predicted to win the end of the year music award by music critics. He also had his first solo concert this year, which was limited to adults and was tailored to older generations.
The "Where U At" music video which will be released on the 15th features famous foreign dancers who praised Taeyang, who was "better than a lot of dancers that they had ever seen. It is uncanny that someone who sings as well as he does can also dance incredibly well."
"Where U At" was produced and composed by Teddy, who seems to be producing hits everywhere with "Only Look At Me," "Prayer," "Lollipop", and 2NE1's "Fire" and "I Don't Care." Their collaboration with this single has high expectations.
"Where U At"'s lyrics are about a man imagining where his soulmate is and why they haven't met yet, which is even more heartfelt considering how similar it is to 22-year-old Taeyang's life story of how he has never had a girlfriend.
Taeyang's solo comeback will open up competition between Big Bang members as G-Dragon is currently flooding the charts with his solo promotions.
YG Entertainment said "'Where U At" will be released just to make Taeyang's first full-length album known, so there will be no accompanying promotions or TV appearances."
Taeyang will then release his second, actual title track "Wedding Dress" in early November. Then, he will start his actual promotions mid-November until the end of the year.
"Wedding Dress" will be somewhat revealed during the latter half of the "Where U At" music video.
Singer and actress Jang Nara said Wednesday that she will never again appear in a movie her dad makes.
Jang made the remark during a press conference for her new film "Sky and Sea" co-produced by Christmas Entertainment and JNdivertisseme, a production company owned by her father.
"My dad was supposed to invest just a little but he ended up making a full-scale investment as the film started facing difficulties," Jang said. "He told me this when I was half-way into shooting the movie and I couldn't sleep that night."
She said her dad kept sending her to China from then on early this year to shoot several commercials and hold concerts but that he ended up investing all the money she made into the film.
"I thank and love him dearly but I might die if he makes another movie," Jang added jokingly of her dad who has also been managing her career since her debut.

2NE1 First Independent Concert
End of year concert hall coronations and discussion of details… new album releases next month,Girl group 2NE1 will hold a large-scale concert at the end of the year.
The 2NE1 concert is very significant in various ways. The only female groups that have held their own concerts is Finkl(1998,1999) and S.E.S(2000), Wonder Girls(2008), these three groups only. And for a new group whose debut hasn’t even passed a year to hold a solo concert at such a huge performance hall is impossible without a number of hit songs and a huge popularity.
There have been a lot of female idol groups out, and especially this year it has expanded so much to the point where it was called a ‘fountain of girl groups.’ But the reason they were not able to hold concerts is because compared to the male groups, there wasn’t as many enthusiastic participation from fans. So for concert management companies, it wasn’t easy to invest in female group concerts.
But 2NE1 has had an uncommonly great deal of attention since before their debut, and this put them at a different position from all the other girl groups. Even before 2NE1’s debut, they had gone up the music charts with the LG Cyon commercial theme song ‘Lollipop’ in March. In May, they debuted with ‘Fire’ and gained so much popularity that they won first place in a mainstream music program in just one month.
In July after the release of their mini-album, ‘I Don’t Care,’ as well as ‘In the Club’ ‘Let’s Go Party’ ‘Pretty Boy’ and etc. has gained equal popularity and went up in high ranks in the music charts. They not only just catch the eye of the viewer with their dance or fashion, or feminine charm, but they also win with their music and made a huge progression.
After they ended their mini-album activities in mid-September, 2NE1 is planning on releasing another album around November, so they will probably have enough hit songs to fill up the 2 hour performance of the concert. 'Festival of Stars' Dream Concert is 4 days away
On October 10, 6:30 PM at Seoul District Mapo Sangamdong Seoul World Cup Stadium regarding the opening of 2009 Dream Concert (,) on and after September 28 (,) on October 6 as a result of survey question in 9 days that was coordinated from Caffebene*, Super Junior's perfomance stage at Dream Concert will be the best stage.

"You’re Beautiful”, Lee Hongki Transforms Into Jessica
FT Island’s Lee Hongki transformed himself into SNSD’s Jessica.
Starting its first airing on 7th October, SBS Wed-Thu drama “You’re Beautiful” includes parody music videos and one of which, requires Lee Hongki to transform into SNSD.
The main characters of “You’re Beautiful” challenged themselves in parodies of mega hits like Seo Taiji & Boys’ “I Know“, Roo’ra’s “Wingless Angel“, HOT’s “Candy“, DJ.DOC’s “Run To You“, Crying Nut’s “Let’s Ride A Horse“, Fin.K.L’s “Forever Love” and SNSD’s “Tell Me Your Wish“.
Lee Hongki, who transformed into SNSD’s Jessica, even wore skinny pants and 7cm-tall high heels for the filming. He revealed that, “Few days before the filming, I went to check out the song and the videos and made careful observation of their performance.”
Actually, during the filming of “Tell Me Your Wish“, he had a video call with Tiffany. “Lee Hongki and Jang Geunsuk, who did Jessica and Yoona’s parts respectively, look very pretty and I’m really shocked. I will watch the drama well when it starts,” Tiffany gave her support.

FT Island will be holding a nationwide concert tour titled “Men’s Stories“.
FT Island is starting their concert tour in Seoul, at Jangchung Gymnasium, on 14th (6pm) and 15th (3pm) November. At the concert, FT Island will be telling their “Men’s Stories“, using strong visuals and sound. There is going to be much interaction with the fans instead of just a normal performance.
Tickets are available at MaxTicket, starting 14th October at 9pm.

FT Island feels burdened to be labeled as “idols”.
The band revealed how they feel about being labeled as “idols” on MBC “Music Travel LaLaLa” that was aired earlier on 2nd September.
“Because of this title, we have to work even harder,” FT Island voiced their concerns, “People will have preconceptions about us.” They also mentioned that, “There’s no time to rest and we’re also short of time.”

On the 1st epsidoe of KBS drama channel "Human network - Super Junior's miracle" which will be aired at 8.00PM on September 5th, Super Junior's members will have to take a quiz called "Idol of general knowledge - Umbrella quiz" to test their quality to be the MCs. The member who is ranked #1 will be receive "Idol of general knowledge" award and the one who is ranked at last will be called "bomb-shell idol".

Girlgroup 4Minute breaks the ‘GDragon syndrome’ by take him off the #1 on illegal music download chart for the 1st week of September.
MusicSave (musicsave.co.kr), in charge of monitoring illegal music sites, revealed that 4Minute’s ‘Muzik’ has take up about 20.6% of illegal music file downloads for the week.
This is the 2nd time that 4Minute is #1 on illegal music download chart after coming back with their 1st minialbum. There was some setbacks for the group with their 1st minialbum – first the album was leaked out on 28th August before the official release date, and then the song ‘Won’t Give You’ was ruled inappropriate for broadcast. But the album is doing very well as a whole, moving up fast on various music charts.

2PM’s Park Jaebum has made an official apology over the comments made about Korea. Jaebum posted on American social networking site in 2005 & 2007 saying ‘I want to go back to America’ ‘I hate Korea’, after such insulting comments have been found, he has received a lot of criticism.
Park Jaebum has confessed to posting such things at 12:13PM and posted at his fancafe with the title ‘Park Jaebum’s apology’, trying to express this apology through the post.
Jaebum said “I would like to apologize for the things I posted on myspace a few years ago. Sorry’ ‘and ‘I returned to Korea in Jan 05 when I was a high school student. One Japanese movie reporter has complained about Lee ByungHun playing a Japanese character in the upcoming movie G.I. Joe. Cable channel Y-STAR’s ‘Curiosity’ aired a segment titled ‘Fortune-Telling Using Faces! SNSD’s Episode.’ The producers of the show first showed a fortune-teller the faces of SNSD members. They then visited the group at a CF filming site and got their opinions on the fortunes.
According to the fortune-teller, “Yoona’s eyes are shaped like those of a bird. Her will is strong and she is extremely competitive. She has a habit of finishing things she starts, and it seems like she would be a good disciplinarian. Jessica’s high nose ridge means that she has the most popularity among guys. This is because she has a high nose ridge and it looks like the tip of her nose protects the rest of her nose.”

SNSD, Gets in a Car Accident While Returning Home From Broadcast
Girl Group SNSD got in a car accident on the 4th at night while driving home from appearing on MBC FM4U 'Dreamy Radio YooGun'.
According to SM Entertainment, SNSD members after finishing broadcast in Yeouido this night were heading to their dorm in Gangnam in two separate cars and were charged by a car that was driving along with them on the Olympic rode and got in a crash.
SM said, "Fortunately, the cars only made contact with each other, so it didn't turn out to be a big accident" and added, "None of the members were hurt, but Hyoyeon was shocked by the accident due to the crash that happened while she was seated in the front, so she is being checked up in the hospital because we're worried about the aftermath of the accident."
SNSD plans to continue their regular schedule on August 5th, despite the car accident that occurred on the previous day. Fortunately, SNSD is scheduled to attend only two afternoon events, which are MBC 'Chin Chin Radio' hosted by TaeYeon and KBS 'Super Junior Kiss The Radio.' SM Entertainment stated, "The physical condition of the members will be carefully examined to ensure their safety."
The car accident occurred on the night of August 4th while driving home from their appearance on MBC FM4U 'Dreamy Radio YooGun'.
According to SM Entertainment, the accident occurred while the members were driving home in two separate vehicles when another car attempted to pass the two on the Olympic road. SM also stated, "Fortunately, the minor collision didn’t turn out to be a big accident and none of the members were injured. HyoYeon, who sat in the front passenger seat, was rushed to the nearest hospital to be checked up on the bruises she received from the impact."
SM Entertainment added, "HyoYeon did not sustain any serious injuries and is currently resting" and concluded, "SNSD's upcoming schedule will not be affected."

All SM Artists Are Under The Same Contract
In relation to 3 TVXQ members, Junsu, Jaejoong, and Yoochun who filed injunction application to suspend exclusive clause contract, Seoul Court has been collecting all contracts of other singers under SM Entertainment and miraculously, their contract with the agency is completely similar with TVXQ.
SM artists’ contract mostly last for a long period (averagely 10 years), unfair income distribution (50,000,000 won is paid only if the album sold more than 500,000 copies), and penalty termination (3 times of initial investment and 2 times of loss).Many SM idol stars have been in the same shoes as TVXQ for exclusive contract clause.
District Court (first level court) and High Court (second level court) has come to the same conclusion, that the agreement in contract is unfair thus labeled it as “invalid”. However, Supreme Court’s (third level) adjudication has not yet to come. The artist can be said to win the case only if the Supreme Court has agreed to the two court’s adjudication, else it’s not proceed.
CF model Yoo Minho (25) in 2006 had a discord against SM related to exclusive contract as well. Therefore TVXQ’s case in not the first case of an artist having court battle against SM. Even the Yoo Minho’s contract is likely similar with TVXQ contract, which makes it more cliche. Minho’s starting contract period was also close as TVXQ’s, January 3, 2003 (TVXQ is June 30, 2003).
Yoo Minho – SM court battle lasted for 1 year and 6 months in Yoo Minho’s winning with some adjustment clauses, yet she dropped from SM, while the agency influenced the PD of her show to shut down the TV show since she’s no longer worked for SM regardless the good ratings it got.
SM seems to use a standard form in each of its contract therefore it appears that other singers under SM such as Super Junior and SNSD have signed the same contract as TVXQ.
In addition, TVXQ members requested to SEJONG lawfirm–3 members legal representative–through an e-mail on August 5th “Until the trial date is confirmed, please do not reveal anything about our stand, to avoid more court motions.”

Right after the Brown Eyed Girls performance on Music Bank, the girls were headed to another scheduled event near the Han River at around 8pm, when they slightly collided with the car in front of them. The car in front of them stalled because of a flat tire and the vehicle in which the Brown Eyed Girls were in slightly collided with the car in front. The members didn't have any injuries of note, but some were reportedly a bit shocked about the whole ordeal. They changed vehicles and continued onto their next schedule.

Group Eight has bought the rights to yet another manga to reproduce as a drama. Previously, they bought the rights to hit dramas 'Goong' and 'Boys over Flowers', but this time it's popular Japanese manga 'Mischievous Kiss'. This manga has already been remade as the Taiwanese drama 'It Started With a Kiss'.
A representative from Group Eight announced "We are preparing Mischievous Kiss as our next project. A team is already beginning preparations for the drama. We are planning on it being aired sometime next summer. Although the original manga does not have an ending, the scriptwriter does have a plot in mind. We could use the ending for 'It Started With a Kiss' or write an entirely new ending."
'Mischievous Kiss' is about a genius boy with a 200 IQ who is very cold and distant and a girl who is very clumsy, but has a crush on this boy. As they interact, the girl changes the boy into someone who is much more human. Your typical Japanese shojo manga, but it's what Koreans like.
I really love the taiwan version, so much that during breaks me and my friends would skip going down to the canteen an sigh over the drama and listen to the soundtrack. The show was so sweet and romantic! I cant wait for the korean version!
